Diploma in Digital Marketing

Chartered Institute of Marketing qualifications are developed in consultation with industry to equip you with the skills employers are looking for. Topics covered include Search Engine Marketing (SEO and PPC), Content Marketing, Email Marketing, Mobile Marketing, Display advertising and Online PR, and Social Media Marketing.

If you want to know how to strategically plan a digital campaign that uses the right tactical tools for your product and audience, and how to measure and report on its ROI, then this qualification is for you. There's a lot more to digital than just tactical tools!

This qualification has two single modules plus a double module. If you already have marketing qualifications, contact us about an exemption from the double module.

Each single module is three months long and requires approximately 50-hours study (plus time to complete a work-based assignment). The double module requires approximately double this.

The qualification is delivered through part-time blended learning. This comprises online study supported by regular live webinars and optional face-to-face study sessions at the start of each module. You are supplied with high-quality printed course materials and have access to multimedia resources through our Study Portal.

  • Digital Marketing Essentials
    This module provides you with the essential skills and knowledge of digital marketing. As well as codes of practice and regulations, topics covered include Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), Pay-Per-Click Search Advertising, Display Advertisting, Email Marketing, Viral Marketing, Online PR, Content Marketing, Affiliate Marketing and Social Media Marketing. You will also learn about digital metrics including website analytics and social media monitoring, along with usability, accessibility and landing page optimisation.
  • Digital Marketing Planning
    This module considers the internal and external factors that influence digital marketing planning. You will explore a range of digital models, develop online personas, and review the differences between the traditional and digital marketing mix, and also consider issues such as trust, security and privacy.
  • Marketing and Consumer Behaviour (double module)
    This module gives you the essential foundations that underpin all areas of marketing, including Digital Marketing. It provides the skills and knowledge required to manage marketing communications and the activities to support a brand. It explains the links between marketing and communications, and provides the fundamentals of consumer behaviour and their application to marketing communications. If you already have a marketing qualification, you may be exempt from this module.

One of the following:

  • Sufficient experience in marketing or communications
  • A marketing, communications or business qualification
  • Any degree or vocational equivalent

If English is not your first language, you will need IELTS 6.5 or Trinity ISE III/IV.

To study this qualification you will need internet access, preferably broadband, in order to log onto our online Study Portal and to participate in online tutorials. You will also need a headset that incorporates a microphone for online tutorials.

Apart from a web browser, the only software requirements are a PDF reader plus standard office automation software to write your assignment.

The tuition fees for the full qualification are $3990 ($2660 if you have 50% credit). You should also allow between $800 and $900 for textbooks, CIM membership and assessment fees.

All fees are tax deductable and can be spread over the duration of the qualification.
